Games: Why are they addicting?

Okay, I don't really understand how people can get so addicted to video games... They aren't even close to reality. Well one game that is really addicting (or so I've heard) is World of Warcraft. I can't comprehend how people can be so obsessed with that game. I will admit that I do play the game but I am not addicted to it. And if anyone knows why it can be so addictive please enlighten me on the reason. The only reason that I can think of is because people hate their lives so much they get into a video game to pretend their life doesn't suck.

Another game that can be addictive is the Halo series. I have played Halo 3 online a few times and the people have to be messed in the head or something.(this isn't everyone just almost everyone) The people who you are playing with will yell at you if you kill them and also people will be so proud of themselves if they get a head shot, and if they don't get one they cry about it.

So please people of you are addicted to a game of some kind, I have some advise for you...
GET HELP NOW!!!!!!! The game addiction you have will wreck your life. So just get some help for every one's sake and not just your own.

haha World of Warcraft is like a disease to gamer nerds of all kinds. Seriously, people put in like 20 hour days doing nothing. Have you ever noticed they smell? That's because they're too addicted to shower. True Story. Also.. grosss!

It's not that they're close to reality. Most games that become addicting are games that have endless objectives. WoW for example never really ends. there always adding bigger better things to keep you in there grasp. Even games as simple as like, Banjo-Kazooie can be addicting. Any game that has some kind of collecting aspect to it can be really addicting, i know this first hand.

ya, i live with game addicts and i also don't see why they act like that. I mean i've played WOW and halo, and have come to the conclusion their just corporations taking advantage of the 'depresses A.D.D.' generation
